Thanks, PJ, I enjoyed this. The urge to anoint a writer as the โvoice of a generationโ seems bizarre and destructive. In addition to its effects on the crowned author, it might mute or temper other voices of the same generation. Hereโs hoping that most critics deny or refuse to recognize an authority to crown voices in that way, and let each work stand alone. Whew [wipes sweat from brow], at least itโs thigh season.
